John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Donald Trump: 'Nobody Reads the Bible More Than Me'

Recommended Posts

:confused::p I'm speechless

Get over it. It's only a figure of speech. Compare it to, «Nobody loves apples more than me.»

Now do you understand?

He isn't lying, maybe he does read it often, he just doesn't seem to practice much of what he's reading. lol And to me, he is only stating this as an attempt to gain the Christian vote. It apparently is working, many evangelical Christians (or at least those who identify as such) are Trump supporters. I see myself voting for him only to keep Hilary Clinton out of office. But, I don't really 'support' Trump, not because he doesn't have some good things to say, but because he changes his mind a lot...and not sure he can be trusted.

Trump has said things about Muslims in a time of a Christian genocide. He can't say enough on that topic, in my opinion. North Korea is currently threatening us with a Nuclear attack. The degenerating statements towards certain women, however, cannot be defended. His loose lips demonstrate his lack of control, his tongue is unbridled. But that's why so many love him, because he says what is on their mind in a time of Political Correctness. Trump has seemingly tapped into a certain demographic. He has tapped into the frustration and anger of right leaning citizens.

God bless,

William

Carson just endorsed Trump. Bernie would be happy for you to be his pet.

Yes, I agree. Hyperbole is just part of Trump's style.

    • Does the Bible Support Female Deacons? No.

      Does Scripture permit women to hold the office of deacon? In addressing this important question, we must bear a couple of things in mind. First, Reformed pastors and theologians, fully committed to the authority and inerrancy of Scripture, have disagreed about what the Bible teaches concerning women and the diaconate. This state of affairs calls for particular humility in discussing this question. Second, all sides recognize that women in some way have served in the diaconate in various periods

    • Does the Bible Support Female Deacons? Yes.

      The question as to whether women should serve as deacons is unclear in the Bible, and so it makes sense that sincere interpreters of Scripture differ on the matter. Thus, we must beware of dogmatism and an uncharitable spirit when adjudicating the evidence. The issue is addressed directly in only two verses (Rom. 16:1; 1 Tim. 3:11), and the meaning of both is disputed. The disagreement surfaces in English translations. Romans 16:1 in the NIV reads, “I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a deacon
