John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Obama at Prayer Breakfast: ‘Jesus is a Good Cure for Fear’

Recommended Posts

But in all honesty he has never been a Christian and I know Obama lovers will crucify me for this, so what I'm used to it by now but Obama uses the cross of Christ exactly as Hitler did, to further his own agenda, to snow Christians into thinking hes a good guy, and its not even close to the only thing he and Hitler have in common, there's much more.

Some of the things Jesus said should inspire fear rather than relieve it.

You are talking about the real Jesus! President Obama was talking about the secular Jesus. That Jesus is a semitic Buddha with New Age tendencies.

Many groups who deny the Lord Jesus is God will cite Deuteronomy 6:4 in affirming that there is only one God. That there is only one God is true, but this passage in no way proves the Lord Jesus is not God. For the very next passage (Deuteronomy 6:5) teaches that the "only one God" is to be worshiped and since the Lord Jesus is properly worshiped this necessitates that YHWH of Deuteronomy 6:4 encompasses the Lord Jesus. Besides the worship of the Lord Jesus other areas such as certain appellat

    • The Church Loved My Daughter to Jesus

Recently, one of my daughters came to faith in Jesus. She started talking to us and asking questions while driving home from our community groups on Sunday nights. As most conversations about the gospel tend to go, we talked about the character of God, sin, Jesus’s death and resurrection, faith, hope, repentance, and many related issues. We’ve been praying for our daughter since before she was born. We memorized Scripture with her, read her the Bible, sang hymns with her, and catechized her fro

    • Was there an alternative to Jesus' sacrifice?

Was the sacrifice of Jesus Christ predetermined from the beginning or was there an alternative? Had the Jewish leaders accepted Jesus as the Messiah and crowned Him king, had king Herod accepted to abdicate and to proclaim Jesus as the new king, would Jesus had led all the Jewish people back to their promised land and reigned over them forever without His sacrifice taking place?
