John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

PRAY FOR BOLDNESS IN PREACHING THE GOSPEL

Eph 6:18-20  praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—— and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Yes even Paul requested Christians pray for him - that he may have boldness in preaching the gospel. And so how much more the rest of us. And notice the last phrase, "as I ought to speak". That is, when the gospel is preached, it's supposed to be preached boldly, fearlessly.

You know, according to the Law of Moses, those who were afraid were not even allowed to join the battle. They were commanded to stay home. So also when it comes to preaching the gospel. God doesn't want it preached timidly. So pray for those involved in the ministry of the gospel, that they may carry out their ministry fearlessly. And pray particularly for those involved in attempting to get the gospel to muslims and hindus in countries in which freedom of speech is not respected as one's right.
