John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Should Christians Boycott Starbucks?

Recommended Posts

At least from Starbuck's CEO, we won't be missed: If you support traditional marriage over gay marriage, Starbucks doesn’t want your business.”

Why would a normal human being chose to be a gay, it's a baffle to me. In one of the threads on this forum we did read that being gay is a conscious effort by people, people are not born that way. This is one of the evils of Sodom and Gomorrah that got them destroyed by God.

Some people are apparently born that way. I suggest that you read the book Washed and Waiting, by Wesley Hill. Hill was born into a Christian family and taught that the Bible was true but found that he was sexually attracted to other males. Because of his faith in the Bible he chose not to act on that attraction. I have written a review of the book here: https://www.christforums.org/forum/entertainment-fun/books/963-washed-and-waiting-the-story-of-a-gay-christian

The Reformers believed it is ok to do business with sinners and heretics. I'd find some references but I just don't have the time right now.

This turned into an "is gay okay" forum. Question is do you boycott? I say if they do not want a Christian's business then it is our obligation to oblige them. So who here is going there still?

Well, Starbucks turn people away for voting Trump now. Looks like the question is not whether we boycott SBs but whether they boycott others.

As far as I am concerned, Sb has verbally fenced the store.

Then the matter is settled. Maybe this is why Starbucks is not being blessed. They've nearly closed every store in Australia.

I think starbucks did their best to promote gay marriages. And not only that feminism was mostly spread over by them through the commercials. I think the worst they did with the feminism. I have seen people suffering due to the feminism. I am surprised company such as starbucks which makes money off Christians run such propaganda. I don't have any soft corner left for them. They can't have my money anymore. I choose not to buy their coffee anymore.

This is why as children of God I think part of our prayers should be, instead of the unbelievers unrepentant men prosper in business God should make that happen for Believers. Let the true children of God take over the positions. One thing when an unbeliever is enriched chances are they may use that money to promote evil, support and sponsor despicable activities, as seen with Starbucks, that don't give glory to God. Empower the children of God and see the great works that will be done lifting up the kingdom of God, taking the gospel to every nook and cranny of the world.

    • When Should Christians Use Satire?

Shane, a listener to the podcast writes in: “Pastor John, with the growing popularity of Christian satire, for example, websites like ‘The Babylon Bee,’ what are your thoughts on the use of satire to communicate Christian thought?”   The dictionary defines satire like this: “The use of irony, sarcasm, ridicule, or the like in exposing, denouncing, or deriding vice, folly, etc.” And then, if you look for a definition of irony, which was used to define satire, the definition it gives is this: “

    • Christians STOP Persecuting Other Christians!

Christians all over the world (both Catholic and Protestant alike) are guilty of persecuting other Christians (and others) using harassment tactics developed by the occult and intelligence agencies in the 20th century.  These tactics may date back as early as the Roman Empire and even Biblical times as shown below.  To see how the US intelligence apparatus operates, just look at the East German Stasi (as well as the former Soviet KGB).  The US government follows these protocols and harasses whis
