John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Poll: Majority Of Americans Support Wealth Tax To Pay For Tuition-Free College And Erase Student Debt

A majority of Americans support a wealth tax for the 75,000 richest families in the country to erase most student loan debts and make community and state colleges tuition-free, according to a poll released Monday.

The Hill-HarrisX survey, conducted between April 27 and April 28, found 64 percent of registered voters supported the same education reform plan recently proposed by Massachusetts Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

“Some people will say we can’t afford this plan,” Warren wrote in a Medium post April 22. “That’s nonsense. The entire cost of my broad debt cancellation plan and universal free college is more than covered by my Ultra-Millionaire Tax — a 2% annual tax on the 75,000 families with $50 million or more in wealth.”

The poll did not attach the 2020 hopeful’s name to the proposal, but rather gave the provisions.

Participants were asked if they supported a “recently announced” higher education reform plan costing $1.25 trillion over 10 years. It would cancel up to $50,000 in student loan debt for 42 million Americans and would make two and four-year colleges tuition-free.

Sixty-seven percent of voters between 18 and 64-years-old supported the plan while 53 percent of those over 65 were drawn to the proposal, The Hill reported.

Nearly 80 percent of Democrats, 66 percent of Independents and 48 percent of Republicans approved of the plan.

Almost 60 percent of respondents earning $75,000 or more per year were also enthusiastic about the reform.

The survey had 1,002 respondents with 37 percent as Democrats, 29 percent as Independents, 32 percent as Republicans and 2 percent identifying as something else. The margin of error was plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.

Can't believe Democrats are trying to take credit for this. This is an idea that everyone can get behind. They didn't come up with it! Watch what happens when a conservative suggests the same thing. No one will report it. Typical.

It will not work.  The laws of supply and demand mean that making more money available for colleges will only increase the cost of an education.  More money chasing the same finite product always yields price inflation.  Just like Student Loans allowed colleges to charge students more for an education.

Yea, let's vote more taxes of any kind to free up more money for other resources like Planned Parenthood <sarcasm>.

In all seriousness, if everyone has a college degree then a college degree is going to be about as valuable as a high school diploma. It will become a standard which does little to place an individual over the rest of the field because everyone has one, but yet if you don't have one you won't qualify for a job. And if anyone has a degree then the wages are going to lower (simple supply and demand).

Secondly, let the Government control and regulate who gets free tuition (everyone). Let's use our tax money to fund someone in a career path like Feminism. Since those people are now funded by student loans which are controlled by Gov., and the person with such a degree can't get a job afterwards therefore not paying back the loan because the Gov. gave credit and tax money to a person seeking a dead end career. After all the Gov. does a wonderful job at already handling a balanced budget and other people's money.

California already has a first year paid for (on the tax payer) in the University of California system. And we all know how affordable, low taxes, and the kinda individuals the great state of CA is producing.

Me too ... Community college then New Jersey Institute of Technology.

However, can you say that you turned out as a wonderful Christian man BECAUSE of that education, or IN SPITE OF IT?

They did a lot of harm to a babe in Christ just trying to figure this faith thing out ... today I would eat their breakfast if they tried to hand me that "P", "S" and "V" manuscript crap.

Everett,

I'm sorry but as successful ex-construction company founder, operator and hands on builder, I must try to open your eyes.  Most people in the Industrialized nations are, educationally, much better equipped than this, almost, Eighth Grade Graduate, I, natively, spoke English but still managed to fail it that year.

Still, I pronounce, because of the announced mathematical findings of the author of this article, again, I pronounce him/her Statistically Unstudied and Mathematically, a Baboon.

Fact: Remove excess capitol from Employers/Investors and they cease to invest in the nation of their residence and move their capitol, their children, and their industries out of the nation of origin.

Fact: There is no formula in which the top, less than, five percent of the World can support the Dream World the Communists/
Socialists sell as their goal.  Only the Unthinking Masses will ever biite this bullet.  I know this because, as a young man I, also, was a Bleeding Heart Liberal and then I mentally matured.

bullett

I pray the hand of Y7HWH upon your heart.
