John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Hello brethren, I am back after 11 days in the hospital for congestive heart failure. I have bee battling fluid buildup since the first of the year. They say I have afib (irregular heartbeat) and a general heart muscle malfunction. They sent me home with oxygen and a bunch of new medicines. Please keep me in your prayers. Thanks.

Glad to learn what happened to you and that you are now in a condition to return home.

Praying for you Deade and will continue to pray for you. Please keep us posted not only on your health status but also any struggles or encouragement you may receive in way of faith.

God bless,

William

Update: I finally got to go to church yesterday and they were happy to see me. I still have to drag along my oxygen tank so please continue to pray for my recovery.
