John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

For the LORD is good

Psa 100:4  Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
Psa 100:5  For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Looking over the prayer request this morning , I am impressed with the members here , Maybe this is not the best thread to post about this but o well.  Many are so very knowledgeable of the Word and not in stuffed shirt ways. They use knowledge sharing with one another. Different points of view intersecting; learning growing. Showing a willingness of understanding to those less educated. I see hearts to the Lord, pain, wounds and thorns in the side. A number are facing medical situations, scary stuff even when we trust in the Lord. We are concerned for our loved ones. Asking Lord to grant Your peace to these families that You alone may be glorified. Comfort them, fill those cold hospital rooms with Your warmth . For those facing surgery, we thank You for the wisdom and skill of the doctors and staff. Their bodies may be bruised and battered Lord they bear the the fruit they are a God given blessing to Your Church ,.
