John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Hello!

I got lured here by an advertisement. :) I am a Catholic Christian who is looking to grow a meaningful relationship with Christ.

I believe all people who accept Christ are Christians, it pains me when people shun me because I am Catholic. I am very happy that this site is accepting of people from all walks of life, I naturally feel a draw.

Hello and welcome to the site, nice to meet another Catholic here. We're not the only Catholics here, but I don't think that there are many ... I don't think that there are yet many people in total but that will change with time.

Thank you for the welcome peppermint! This seems like an up and coming website, I am guessing it will be slow at first, but it is sort of exciting joining a forum while it is in its infancy. It means that we can foster relationships without all the drama of a bigger forum. :)
