John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

In his first State of the State speech Tuesday, Gov. Gavin Newsom called for the state to scale back the focus of its high speed rail project to focus on one portion in the Central Valley. “I have nothing but respect for Governor...

This high-speed rail thing has been a huge money pit since it began.  They need to scrap the entire plan and not replace it with anything else.

"The Democratic governor acknowledged critics who want the state to abandon the project entirely, but said he doesn’t want to waste the billions already spent on the project, nor does he want to return $3.5 billion the state has received in federal funding."

Yup, pockets are lined whenever there's a financial transaction.

Or, they could just use the money to upgrade the dams, bridges, roadways, etc...  You know, something useful.

Can't they fund their own infrastructure?

California is forcing green technology on everyone and the state itself is supposed to be green sometime soon. You mean to tell me that forcing people into green technology still results in an unprofitable technology where companies can't even afford to maintain (dams and power lines) themselves?

Can't imagine a government run healthcare system and the money pit it might become if these relatively small projects are any indicator.

Apparently not, even with all the extra taxes they are collecting.  Trump should pull the plug on all federal funding until they get their act together.  If California truly is one of the largest economies in the world it should be able to be self-sustaining.
