John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Console Video Games

Recommended Posts

Almost three months ago I finally broke down and bought a xbox.  This is the first console I have purchased since the N-64 I had a while back.  I use it mostly for streaming movies and tv shows, but my kids play lego games (star wars, harry potter, jurassic park, etc...).  I have also purchased Battlefront 2 and Skyrim.  Kids use it mostly for games, but I do play from time to time.

That's cool, I played Skyrim on PS3 back in the early 2010s.

Can't believe it is that old.  I have also played Oblivion on the PC, which I know came out in '07-'08 period.  I guess that would make sense for Skyrim to come out around '10.  I will generally play rpgs and rts games.

Thank you for sharing. I also have Oblivion on steam and I had it on PS3 before (I think I still have my PS3 but it is lost in the garage).

Something I am looking forward to is Railroad Corporation.  I am a big fan of the Tycoon games, and this looks rather similar.  There is another game, Railway Empire, but I am waiting for the price to come down again on Steam.  It is available for PS4 and Xbox One, but I generally prefer to play on PC.

I have an old X Box 360

I play every now and then, and used to be an absolute video game addict growing up.

I looked into getting a newer console but it's just too expensive for something I don't have that much interest in except for maybe playing the new Resident Evil 2 remake.

I remember playing Resident Evil with my PS1. My daughter at the time would throw a hissy fit when I played the game and the spooky music would come on. I have no idea how much the new consoles are but I enjoy moreso the intellectual battles on Christian websites than I do fantasy games and figuring them out.

I looked at an Xbox one in Wal-Mart that was close to $300.00

and most of the games where around $70.00.

Maybe it's just me but that's ridiculous expensive.

That's only if you buy the games when they first come out.  Over time the price will drop to a reasonable level.  Also, they have sales from time to time, and you can get pre-owned copies at places like Gamestop.

Used to have a console, but the controllers gave my carpel tunnel fits. I'd routinely have to stop and shake my hands out because it hurt so bad.

So I've gone back to PC gaming.

Far less stress on the old wrists!
