Community Fellowship

John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Grand Canyon University Re-Invites Ben Shapiro to Campus after Calling Him Divisive

Recommended Posts

I received my BA degree from what was then Grand Canyon College in 1985. Back then it was a Southern Baptist College. GCC had chapel speakers that were exciting and were well worth hearing. Often we were blessed to hear speakers that challenged my thinking. As a ministerial student attending chapel was a requirement, The Bible department was quite large in staff and students. I felt the college was a well worth while experience.

GCC was financially supported by the Southern Baptist Convention and they were not able to keep subsidizing the college. GCC was sold and a private group bought it and it continues to be a Christian College. I am blessed to have gone to GCC.
