Christian Fellowship

John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

SBC President JD Greear Responds to Criticism for Attending White House Evangelical Dinner

Recommended Posts

Going to the WH Evangelical dinner was a very good thing for J. D. Greear to do. This was not a political dinner, and those who were there had no political reasons for being there.

Rev. Greear is attempting to bridge the SBc with other Christian organizations and leaders. Good for Rev. Greear.

I can't imagine sitting at a dinner table with Paula White, Kenneth, and Gloria Copeland.

What do you talk about? The weather?

There were others that deserve our respect. Just because there are tares, we don't pull out the Greears, do we?

Don't think I'd be able to restrain my sense of humor at the table while listening and speaking to those three.

I personally would sit at the as far from them as I could.  I feel  sure President Trump would have his spiritual advisor as close as possible. That would the very Reverend Paula White. Oh my this would ruin the meal for sure.

I continue to be deeply disappointed with President Trump, but selecting Rev, Paula White as his spiritual advisor should have said volumes about his selections of people he wanted close to him. To say we need to be in serious prayer for our countries leaders is an unser statement.

I truly wish i did not agree with you on this.

2Ch 7:14  If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

I could see that. Of course, a pound to a penny that they'd be discussing Mr. Copeland's latest private jet and why he and his cronies " need" those expensive airplanes..

I have been to  a special luncheon where my wife and I were seated with one of the most liberal well know "Christian Speakers" who believes only in a "red letter Bible. For some you may know him Tony Campolo. We were polite, and answered him with respect, and he answered our questions.  Rudeness is not acceptable, and is not what we believe represents respectable manors, the only exception is for who still nurse or are fed by bottles literally.
