John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Can't say that I admired him or his views and convictions whether they not only aligned with the GOP but also Christianity nor can I say that he was a co-laborer for Christ in the mission field. Really can't say anything honorable about him. But I realize Christ died for people like him. I just wish there was outward evidence of that in his life. I can't wrap my mind around his pro liberal/democrat views on key issues and his support for the murder factory Planned Parenthood. This confuses me and taints what I would otherwise think about his service to his country in both the Military and Senate.

One thing I know is that this earth is the closest some will ever come to hell. And this earth is the closest some will ever come to heaven. Time here is short, and wherever McCain may be or whether he experiences the Mercy or Justice, and Wrath or Grace of God the saints shall praise God.

Having said that, it is too late for prayers of intercession or petition etc. There's no one else other than our Holy, Omniscient, and Just God whose hands is he better suited to be in.

May God rest McCain's soul. McCain's earthly battles are over.
