John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

I don't know much about Rand Paul, but I have the utmost respect for his father, Ron Paul. The pro-life positions of most GOP candidates is worthless, and probably insincere. But, Rand Paul strikes me as sincere. I would fully count on President Rand Paul to sign any bill into law that would stop the coercion of people to pay for abortion (and birth control), and to otherwise work to restore our religious liberty being stripped from us by the pro-abortion, pro-sodomite, and other tyrants of the Democratic party. Most of the rest of the GOP field would be too busy trying to drum up support for unjust war, and further radicalizing Muslims, to worry about our religious liberty (see G. W. Bush).
