John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

Thank you all.

I have had three surgeries in the last 55 days and your prayers are deeply appreciated. Yesterdays surgery  lasted one and a half hours/ They removed one large kidney stone on my right side. They also went up into the right kidney and removed several other stones that they could remove.

I am suffering greatly today. In several places in Scripture we read that suffering actually a time for me to reflect just how much Jesus Christ Suffered for not just my salvation but for whom ever reads my post.

Jesus Christ has given me so much Grace and Mercy!  How awesome is our Father and Jesus Christ, and how deeply the Holy Spirit has interceded on my behalf when I could not utter anything because of my suffering. Have you ever suffered so much and the pain was so great that all you could do is pray "Father help me"?

My prayer is that this post might be of encouragement to some dear soul that is hurting. God bless to you read this.

You are a blessing. We all have the victory when on the mountain tops  YOU show victory in the valley .

Psa 30:10  Hear, O LORD, and have mercy upon me: LORD, be thou my helper.
Psa 30:11  Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
Psa 30:12  To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

Thanks for sharing, Mike! I know how painful it must be for you to go through 3 surgeries in a short time. Yes, our God cares more deeply than we can imagine, and I’m sure He’s been taking good care of you. "The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in Him." (Nahum 1: 7). Be assured of my prayers for your speedy recovery. I hope everything goes well with you and get well soon. Grace and peace to you!

Thank you all for your notes of encouragement and prayers. I still face some issues that a specialist might be able to help me resolve. I am taking each day one at a time for now. God bless you all.
