John Calvin puts forward a very simple reason why love is the greatest gift: “Because faith and hope are our own: love is diffused among others.” In other words, faith and hope benefit the possessor, but love always benefits another. In John 13:34–35 Jesus says, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” Love always requires an “other” as an object; love cannot remain within itself, and that is part of what makes love the greatest gift.

(VIDEO) NYC train conductor attacked by two irate passengers

Recommended Posts

On Saturday, two passengers on a New York City subway attacked the conductor after he announced the train was ordered to run express.

Jacob Credell, 62, was working on a southbound A train around 4:30 a.m. at the Grant Avenue station in Brooklyn.

Two passengers – a man and a woman – became irate and attacked the conductor through a window after the announcement, CBS New York reported.

The woman can be seen throwing punches to the conductor’s face as he and the man struggle.

Watch the video:

The suspects fled after the attack. The NYPD is asking the public for information regarding this incident that was caught on video.

Union employees handed out wanted posters of the suspects.

TWU Local 100 Vice President Joe Costales said: “It made the next stop and that’s when this happened. It was unprovoked by the conductor, the conductor was just doing his job.”

“He’s got a little bit of a black eye and some scratches,” said Costales of the conductor, who was too shaken up to appear on camera.

The union says it’s just the latest in a string of assaults on its employees.

“Enough’s enough. We want them arrested,” said Costales.

The union is calling for surveillance cameras at every train station, as well as body cameras attached to the safety glasses workers are required to wear.
